2. Medicare will notify you when you can enroll

Again, not true. Another one of the Medicare myths that many people believe. And all of these people, when they later need to go to the doctor, realize they are not actually enrolled. This is truly upsetting, and we want you to be informed so you will never have to go through this.

The only condition that guarantees you that you will be automatically enrolled in Original Medicare is that you receive Social Security benefits at the age of 65. If this applies to you, then you don’t need to bother since you have to do nothing to get enrolled.

On the other hand, if this doesn’t apply to you, Medicare will not notify you about anything. It doesn’t tell you when it’s time to enroll. This means that it all depends on whether you are still working after 65 and receiving health insurance from your employer or if you decide to retire at the age of 65.

So, don’t believe the Medicare myths if you don’t want to have to deal with the headaches and stress of knowing that you are not enrolled or that they didn’t notify you about it.
