Chronic conditions need managing!
There are a number of chronic conditions that are not life-threatening, but they need to be kept under control so as to not take a turn for the worse and in turn rack up a hefty health care bill. This means that if you have diabetes, arthritis, or other chronic conditions for an extended period of time, you must always be proactive in managing them.
This means that you have to keep on top of your medication, if you have to take it, and do whatever you can to manage the symptoms if there are any. A good place to start is to ask your doctor all of your questions about your condition in order to learn more about it, as well as read recommended sources about it.
You can take it a step further and join organizations that are focused on building a community, such as a senior center or the YMCA, and look into what classes or programs they have set up in order to help with specific health issue management. It doesn’t have to be a lonely battle that you are facing, and as long as you find ways in which you can deal with everything, then you can definitely prevent conditions from getting worse and thus avoid large medical bills down the road.
