The Villages

If you’re still super active, the Villages in Sumter County, Florida, are specially made for active retirees. The Villages is seen by many as an independent small town, as every single plaza and square is filled with small boutique stores and restaurants.

Golf carts can easily access everything you might want to try here, which is the most recommended transportation method. The community is focused on keeping residents as active as possible, offering various recreational centers, enrichment projects, canine parks, polo grounds, and my favorites: dance classes and a softball complex. A house here could cost anywhere between $119,000 and $1 million.

The Rio Verde Country Club

The Rio Verde Country Club is focused on keeping its residents outdoors with all kinds of fun activities. Its residents can choose between expansive hiking trails, two golf courses, and a pool. But that’s not all; they also have a bocce ball court, a pickleball court, and tennis courts.

Horseback riding is also extremely popular among residents. A home here costs anywhere from $200,000 to over $1 million. Retirees can choose between townhomes and villas, and if they want to rent out homes for a shorter period of time, they can do that, too.
