Is An IRA A Better Option For You?

When determining whether your 401(k) or an IRA is the better choice for you, mull over these questions:

  • Would an IRA offer better me payout options?
  • Would an IRA offer me better investment choices?
  • Would an IRA provide lower costs?

If you were employed at a big company, there’s a good chance that your plan has a few low-cost investment options. A plan that combines low costs, huge payout options, and investment choices can be a fantastic place to keep your money, even after you’ve retired.

But if your 401(k) doesn’t have many options, high fees, or bad investment choices, you should think about an IRA.

One big reason many people want to move their money from a 401(k) into an IRA is that the flexibility of investment and distribution options goes through the roof.
