Wisconsin: Mequon

If the area around the famous Lake Michigan has fascinated you and you have been dreaming of living somewhere close to it, then we would definitely recommend that you turn your attention to the small town of Mequon in Wisconsin. It is located about 15 miles away from Milwaukee, and it is easy to find on the west coast of Lake Michigan! Despite not being the smallest out there, as it does have a population of around 25,000 people, it is still different from the huge towns or metropolises some of us are used to.

They are known for the open space and farms in the area, as well as for the single-family residences that are spread all over the town. You will be able to pick up golf if it has been on your radar, as they have about five golf courses around the town. Though if that doesn’t sound up your alley, you may be more attracted by the 25 parks that you could frequent so you can easily enjoy the outdoors and be able to keep active.

Mequon does have all the amenities you may want from a town, with plenty of shops and restaurants, as well as several senior living facilities and even health care programs that are set up here. In addition to the farmer’s market and annual bingo nights, softball tournament, a local chicken dinner, and a car show, there are special events put on for Independence Day, a Memorial Day parade, and even a special Christmas Tree lighting event! It is a gem of a small city you should not miss!
