39. Enact a Weekly ‘No Spend’ Day
If you commute to work, ask if a family member or co-worker could help you out instead of paying extra money for gas. Plan your weekly meals so you won’t have to pop in the supermarket at all, thus avoiding all other temptations.
Do this a couple of weeks in a row and you’ll see just how beneficial this is to your savings. And no cheating, either! If your friends are inviting you out for dinner or drinks on your no-spending day, don’t go out and promise you’ll pay them back later! That defeats the purpose of the whole experiment.
