If you are one of the retirees who are interested in diversifying their portfolio and making sure that you are protecting your money and assets over time, this means that you may be interested in purchasing some bonds when you have already reached retirement age, but you can definitely make such purchases when you have the money even ahead of retirement.
One choice you could make is to invest in securities that are issued by the Treasury (for example, Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS) and Series I Savings Bonds), which will never be subject to swings due to interest rates. Not only that, but it is a good way to get your cash insured since it does fall victim to inflation, and this is a way to protect it!
