Being social goes a long way!

You should never underestimate how much good being social does for your health! It may seem that some people are taciturn and do not enjoy the presence of others as often as others, but even the most introverted people can benefit from being around people.

The sad thing is that a lot of seniors, especially after their spouses pass away, end up alone, with family sometimes living in other cities, if not completely different states. And loneliness sets in quickly, which can lead to a slew of secondary health problems.

What’s more, it is important that you keep active even as a retiree, and going out to exercise with your retirement friends, just to play cards, or even to have dinner are activities you should definitely keep up with in order to maintain your health. Interactions with others, in addition to general physical activities, will do wonders for keeping your health bill clean.

If you do not already have activities on your schedule, you should look into what is offered in your city and even neighborhood and sign up for the ones that sound appealing. You could try joining a book club, an art class, or any other neighborhood activities that are getting organized.

This social interaction will keep you connected with others, alleviate loneliness, keep depression away, and boost your mood and overall well-being!
