A hand on the steering wheel and a wallet full of cash illustrate the rewards of a driving side hustle.

A side hustle might be just the ticket to putting some extra cash in your pocket!

Side hustle, part-time gig, call it what you want. It’s all about making a little bit more money on the side. And who could ever blame us for wanting that?
This article is all about finding creative jobs you could do in or around cars. Whether you’re on the go or have a bit of time for yourself, we think these will fit any schedule. Also, there’s no long term commitment for any of these, so you don’t have to rethink your whole commute or leisure time. See what fits best for you and make the most of it!
Ultimately, though, it doesn’t matter what car you own so long as it gets the job done. Get out there and brush the dust off your piggy bank. It’s time to put it to good use.

Side Hustle: Driving

The obvious choice for a side hustle, we know. But just because something seems like common-sense doesn’t mean we can’t steer you in the right direction.
Services like Lyft or Uber are in constant need of experienced drivers to join their ranks. Plus, if you have a regular job then you should know all about how tedious commutes can be. You’ll be doing your part in lessening traffic if you take advantage of their Destination Modes.
This will allow you to give an indication of your destination. When going to and from the office you can pick a few clients up. Who doesn’t want to make a bit of money doing something they’re already doing?

Side Hustle: Delivery Services

This side hustle might not be ideal for just your morning and evening commute, but it’s still worth looking into. From goods to food to sometimes even drinks for parties, you can pretty much deliver anything under the sun. You’ll probably not be in need of a particularly big car anyway, so that’s another worry off your back.
If you’re already familiar with Uber, try out Uber Eats as well. You don’t have to stress about keeping your car spotless for passengers, either. That translates into either more free time or more opportunities to go out there and work!

Still not convinced? Each delivery can also earn you tips. The sooner you reach the destination, the better, though we still advise you to take care out there and drive safely!

Side Hustle: Vehicle Advertising

Wrap your car with an advertisement and go about your normal day. It doesn’t take much more than that unless you count looking for said agencies.
Well, we’ve got you covered. Stickerride and Carvertise are both fantastic services you can rely on. Simply sign yourself up on their websites and follow their steps. Next thing you know you’ll be earning money by just going about your day!
Companies will also offer help when it comes to parking or washing your car- after all, they want their ads to look clean and to be seen by as many people as possible. Some businesses also let you pick an advertisement that suits you or your car. You could be helping out your favorite company along the way, so definitely check if that’s an option.

Side Hustle: Junk Hauling

It’s true, you’ll be making a lot more money if you own a van or a truck, but any car will do as long as you’re reasonable about the amount of junk you’re hauling. People don’t always want to call for expensive services to take care of their unwanted goods or furniture, so why not fill in that gap?
When spring cleaning comes around, you’ll probably be sitting on a gold mine. Just think of how much stuff households are willing to part with? A few rounds around the neighborhood is all it takes.
Here’s the best part about this gig: reselling goods. Not everything will be in perfect condition, but you never know what you’ll come across. A little bit of polish and work when you’re done driving could really bring certain items to life. If you’re feeling charitable, drop some stuff off at Goodwill!

Side Hustle: Moving Services

Instead of getting rid of people’s junk, why not offer your vehicle to help them move? Vans or trucks are also most appropriate for this. You can’t hope to move mattresses or wardrobes with just any car, after all.
Jobs are easiest to find on Craigslist, by the way. Just make sure you know what you’re signing up for and expect a bit of labor involved as well. Typically, people aren’t looking to just rent your car, they’ll expect you to help with the heavy lifting too. If you’re also fast it’ll surely earn you bonus points.

Check out other social media platforms too, just to cover as much space as possible.

Side Hustle: Car washing

Alright, alright, we know! You don’t have to drive a car in order to wash a car. But we still think you should consider this side hustle anyway!
Car parks are the most lucrative places. There’s no shame in getting cardboard and a sign either. Write down something witty and soon people will be asking for your services. It’s easy money for you and a time saver for them, especially if they’re just out shopping or going in to work.
Whatever the case, this is one easy way to make some money on the side if you’re in a pinch. It doesn’t require much preparation, you don’t have to sign up with any agencies and you can also earn a few decent tips along the way.

Side Hustle: Car Renting

Don’t have time but you’re in need of money? We’ve got you covered. Renting out your vehicle while you’re at work is a good option. It might sound crazy since you never know who’s going to be driving your car, but there’s an app for that! Actually, there are two.
Sign your car up with both Turo and Getaround and let them handle the rest.
Just make sure it’s clean and in good condition and you’re set. While you’re sitting at a desk, your car will earn you some extra cash and you don’t even have to lift a finger. Actually, not doing this feels more like a waste. Your car’s probably going to spend hours upon hours in the parking lot, doing nothing anyway.

Side Hustle: Car Flipping

You don’t necessarily need a vast knowledge about cars to start flipping them- though it wouldn’t hurt either. Researching is key in this profession, and you already need some money on the side to start off, but it can be very rewarding once you get the hang of it.
Buy low, sell high. That’s the bread and butter of it. You could earn quite a lot of money if you’re willing to put some time into your purchases. If you’re also a great negotiator then you’ve already halfway there. You also have to be prepared for what the market has to offer and where.
Be on the lookout on social media first and foremost, listing sites and also while you’re out and about. Spotted a car with a sign in its window? Never lose an opportunity to write down the details.

Side Hustle: Mechanic

If you work on cars, you should know people are willing to pay for your services, especially if it saves them time. No better time waster than getting stuck in traffic, right? Take your skills to them, and if they love your services, we guarantee they’ll become return customers.
From checking tire pressure to oil changes and even more costly repairs, you could pretty much offer anything with this side hustle. You just need the skills, knowledge, time and energy to visit your clients. Make sure their cars are in tip-top shape and you’re on the right track.
So, what do you think? Which of these side hustles would best fit your lifestyle and why? Also, do you know anyone who’s turned their side gigs into full-time jobs? We and others would love to hear about it for a little extra motivation.
