2. Venice, Florida

Venice, Florida, is a suburb on the water on Florida’s Gulf Shore. It’s known for Venice Beach, with its offshore reef. The architecture is inspired by the Italian buildings gracing the city landscape. In fact, this coastal spot got its name from the south-central European Italian city famous for its unique canals.

Venice, Florida, offers 14 miles of beaches, from Manasota Key to Casey Key, and lots of recreational opportunities, including fishing, boating, swimming, and sunbathing.

It should come as no surprise that yet another Florida suburb takes the No. 2 spot on our lists. Nearly two-thirds of its 13,385 total households are collecting Social Security benefits. Also, the average home value of $487,678 shows a stable housing market. When it comes to the property tax rate of 0.91%, residents here pay less than $5,000 in property taxes each year.

  1. In Michigan, the property tax rate is based on the selling price. So if the buyer paid $500,000, his property taxes would be around $7.000.00. Bloomfield Hills is beautiful, and its residents are wealthy. There is no downtown, so the residents go to Birmingham, Troy, or Southfield to shop. For us, if there is no downtown, it should not be called a town.
