There’s no way we could make a list of some of the best retirement communities in Chicago without including Briarwood Lakes. While there are many of its kind in Chicago, nothing compares to Briarwood Lakes, one of the greatest communities for seniors in the area.
This exciting place in Oak Brook is less than 22 miles from downtown Chicago, yet its vibe feels worlds away. The community covers about 92 acres with two-story townhomes and single-story ranch villas built around stunning blue lakes. Surrounded by water, the whole area has a tranquil feel that’s pretty hard to beat.
If you’re looking for outdoor scenery and recreation, Briarwood Lakes is definitely one of the best retirement communities in Chicago to spend your retirement years. Mayslake Forest Preserve and Butterfield Country Club are right outside the neighborhood, and just across the highway you’ll find Oak Brook’s Central Park, a lovely outdoor area with a tennis center, a universal playground, and the Splash Island Outdoor Pool.
