2. Biden Promises To Reject Any Social Security Cuts
In his budget proposal for 2024, President Biden reiterated that he would block any attempt to cut retirement benefits. The proposal, which covers a lot of spending plans spanning 184 pages, states that the administration is committed to strengthening and protecting Social Security and stands against any attempt to cut Social Security benefits.
While no changes have been officially announced, this topic will most likely be debated this summer. We remind you that some Republicans have proposed to cut Social Security benefits or even outright get rid of the program.
No matter what gets proposed and debated, if it includes cuts to the program, Biden will veto it.
