6. Better Customer Service May Be on the Way

Another thing mentioned in the proposed 2024 budget plan is to increase the annual operating budget of the SSA by 10%—this would be about $1.4 billion. The move would significantly improve customer service delivery, including the ability to hire more employers to handle service requests by email and phone.

The added funding is also meant to help the Social Security Administration reduce wait times and process more benefits claims. The 10% increase would be funded by the wealth tax, so this will definitely be one of the hottest topics in the coming months.
