Invest in Socially Conscious Businesses

If you’re looking for a way to impact companies from the inside then it’s time to dip your toes in the stock market. By buying stocks while keeping social responsibilities in mind, you’ll essentially be buying a seat at the table, however small. Naturally, you can work your way up from there.

We’re talking about impact investing, of course, also known as ESG (environmental, social, governance). It’s really not that difficult to find companies that are in line with your goals. Some investment firms may even have specific portfolios that are in line with a lot of social issues at the ready, so if you’re up for it, don’t be afraid to ask. Even those with an IRA or 401(k) may have access to ESG funds.

Are you against oil companies and wish for more to be done for the environment? Then look for firms that invest in renewable energy. Are you against the gun or tobacco industries? Then don’t invest in them and look elsewhere.

You could make a list of priorities and talk to people in the industry that might point you in the right direction.
