There’s no need to have one because they only cover nursing home care

Back when long-term care insurance was first introduced in the 1980s, it was designed with the idea that it would cover nursing home care, and pretty much that’s where the deal would end. And since then, a lot of us have lived under the impression that this is how it works and why people choose to get it. Despite this, things have changed, and getting nursing home care is not the only reason you should look into this type of insurance.

Nowadays, policies are designed to cover the nursing home part but also take care of in-home assistance should you end up at a point where you would need it. This means that it would cover someone coming over to help you with certain medical aspects, so you would not have to move to a nursing home if you do not wish to do so!

A lot of people also consider it a way to make sure that they would not end up in a nursing home unless truly needed. This is not to say that nursing homes are a bad environment or not good, but there are a lot of retirees that would prefer to be at home with loved ones, and long-term care insurance will take care of it!
