While we all know how enjoyable it can be to walk dogs, and it can even be a source of extra income, it is not the best choice you could make to start a business that is only based on this idea. There have even been a few start-up ideas floating around about a phone app that would integrate this idea and centralize all the dog walkers in the United States. Think of it as an Uber Ears but for dog walkers.
While the idea is not that bad, we also think that it is a bit doomed at the moment.
Going back to COVID-19, the pandemic has changed the way in which people work and how a lot of workers have not yet returned to the office, even in a hybrid type of situation. This means a lot of dog owners out there find it way easier to walk their dogs themselves than it would be to find someone trustworthy to come and walk their furry friend.
Another reason is that people are more unsocial than they have been, and a lot of them view walking their pups as the best way to get some fresh air and potentially meet some new people at the dog park. You could start by testing the waters in your neighborhood before you truly go for setting up a whole business around the idea of walking dogs.
