4. Relocation may be the best option for you
We have talked about downsizing already, which can be the key to a happy retirement without savings, but things do not stop there for some of us. Selling a big house may just be the first step toward relocating to another part of the state or even the country! Think about it like this: you may no longer have any ties to your current home or city once you are retired, and even if you do, you can always visit.
The reality is that if you are living in an expensive part of the country, it is going to cost way more to be able to stay there in retirement, and it will not lead to a happy retirement without savings—quite the contrary. Relocating to a cheaper part of the state or country is going to make sure that your savings, as little or as much as you have, are going to last you longer and that you will be able to live more comfortably.
