Thailand

World-famous for outstanding healthcare standards, this is one of the most affordable countries with a sunny and friendly population and a low cost of living. As a further bonus, it even has an easy visa system, making this an accessible option for Americans.

So which city do we recommend? Well, with magnificent beaches and a well-established ex-pat community, 20% of the island’s permanent population, Phuket offers immaculate sandy beaches and a tropical climate.

Ecuador

Charming fishing villages, five hundred miles of shoreline, and lovely weather are all good reasons to retire in this South American country. Another thing to consider is that they use the US dollar as their currency.

Good quality healthcare is available at low prices, and public transportation in many cities will make owning a car entirely unnecessary. In the city of Cuenca, for instance, rent is about 88% lower, and the cost of living is 66% less expensive when compared with the Big Apple.

We don’t know about you, but we consider this option one of the most affordable countries worldwide!
