Fresno

You may have heard of Fresno before (even if just in the form of the chilies), but you can actually mark the city of Fresno on your relaxing destination list if you are an enthusiast of outdoor activities. The city is the biggest one on our list, with a population of almost 1 million residents, but it is still a great town to choose to live in if you are looking for a relaxing retirement period.

The rent here is way lower than the previous two destinations, as it averages somewhere around $1,030 a month, and with the mortgage being around how much rent was in Salinas, it is definitely a better choice for those who do not want to spend a lot of their retirement budget on housing.

What makes Fresno such a great city for those who love nature and the outdoors is the fact that the city is very close to places like Yosemite, the Sierra National Forest, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Parks, as well as several lakes that open up a variety of activities you could do! Not to mention, Fresno County is also known for their Blossom Trail, which you will be able to enjoy and go down every year, alongside the abundance of fresh and locally sourced fruits and vegetables you will be able to enjoy every summer and fall.

Being a central city, it is more affordable and also more relaxed and less full of tourists than other bigger and more famous parts of the city, which aids in our quest for relaxing retirement cities!
