1. Los Angeles to affordable San Bernadino

Is it a surprise that the second-largest American city is among the most expensive ones? I don’t think so. There are many YouTube videos where people talk about how much money they spend in a day or in a week in Los Angeles, and the things they purchase aren’t exactly cheap.

Of course, the people who put their experiences on YouTube are in their 20s, so it’s probably a lot different when it comes to retirees who want to enjoy their golden years in one of the most fashionable and fantastic cities in the US.

If you think about purchasing a home in LA, don’t expect to pay less than $1 million, and if that doesn’t sound like a lot of money, your household bills will be around $119,000 per year.

Just because you don’t have a huge nest egg to help you with all of those LA expenses doesn’t mean that you should let your California dream go, because there are many other budget-friendly cities you could choose from.

San Bernardino, for instance, is a gorgeous city that’s not going to cost you an arm and a leg, but it will also give you the possibility to walk under the palm trees and recharge your batteries.

The average price for a home is around $464,000, which is more than halfway cheaper compared to LA. As for your household bills for a year, you won’t have to worry that you’ll spend all of your hard-earned money because you’ll pay around $44,000 a year for your beautiful life in San Bernardino.
