Hawaii

Coming in at number 5, you should keep your eyes on the Rainbow State, as they are known to be pretty safe despite the fact that there are a lot of tourists around the islands. After all, if you do end up retiring in Hawaii, we doubt you will choose the most tourist-attractive spots, and there are a lot of beautiful places on the islands that are going to make for a great forever home, and the people who live in the state are all extremely happy.

Hawaii is one of the bigger states out there, with a population that reaches almost 1.5 million inhabitants. Despite this, the state ranks 4th when it comes to the income of its inhabitants, and the median income per household is around $83,000.

The peculiar thing about this state is that we stop to look at crime statistics. Despite being ranked fifth on our list, it still has a higher crime rate than the national average, with the archipelago state ranking at 3.1 for every 1,000 residents.

However, the chances of running into instances of violent crime are really low, and the state can boast of having one of the lowest crime rates in the whole county! What’s more, gun ownership is not something that is practiced here, as they have some of the lowest numbers on this front, and gun-related deaths are also some of the smallest in the country!

Not only is Hawaii one of the safest states in the U.S., but they also have the highest life expectancy in the whole country! You would still have to be prepared for natural disasters, as there is a high risk of earthquakes and possible tsunamis, but the whole state is known for how prepared everyone is to deal with such natural threats.

If you are considering moving here, make sure that you also have an emergency kit ready so that you fit right in with how conscientious everyone is when it comes to emergencies!
