5. Make Your Resume More Timeless

You don’t want to hide your work experience, but not putting too much focus on your age is probably a good idea when it comes to your resume. Here are a few tips:

Make it Short

A three-page CV with every job you had in the last 30-40 years isn’t necessarily the best way to make a good impression. According to career experts, shortening your resume and including only relevant and recent experiences is always a good idea.

Update Your Email Address

Many of us still use the email addresses we created 30 years ago. However, that address, especially if it’s the one you use for personal purposes, could be making you look unprofessional and old. Make a new address that includes your first and last name, and don’t forget to use a current domain, such as gmail.com.

Eliminate Graduation Dates

Graduation dates aren’t relevant since you have work experience spanning many years. Therefore, you should eliminate them from schooling.

Include Your Social Media Info

You should definitively add your LinkedIn URL on your resume. Hiring managers rely on this platform the most, and they typically want to get a complete picture of you online and see who you know. If you use other social media platforms where you’re active professionally, then include those too. As pro advice, don’t include it if you mostly post for family and friends or a hobby unrelated to your career.

Use Your Cell, Not Landline

Connectivity can still be a problem in some areas, but most people only have cell phones. Having a landline may draw attention to your age.
