Best for Free: Do Your Own Will

Isn’t it great when you don’t have to pay a penny for something that you want or need? Do Your Own Will is a nationwide, completely free service that allows you to make a last will and testament, living will or power of attorney. It’s easy to use, too. All you need to do is provide the necessary information: details about your beneficiaries, how you want to divide your estate, marital status and your executor.

You don’t even need to sign up in order to get started, but you do need an email address if you want to later update or make changes to your will.

There is one downside that you should consider, though. If you run into any trouble or have questions, there is no support. You’ll need to do your own research and try to come up with solutions. Luckily, though, Do Your Own Will isn’t difficult to use, so you shouldn’t bump into any issues.

Pros

  • Nationwide, available in all 50 states
  • You can save your will as a Word Document or PDF
  • You don’t need to sign up in order to use their services

Cons

  • No legal support
  • You need to do your own research and check if it’s a legally binding document- look at state laws
  • There are no estate planning documents available

Bottom line

Do Your Own Will is the best no-strings-attached service. Since it’s free you don’t need to put in any credit card information and you don’t need to make an account either. Once you’re done with your documents you can download them immediately, either as a PDF or Word document, print and sign them.

Just make sure you’re well prepared as there is no legal support, so you do have to research state laws on your own.
