4. San Jose to Stockton

If you think about giving the capital of Silicon Valley a try, don’t expect it to be affordable, because you’ll be disappointed. It’s a bit more budget-friendly compared to San Francisco, but you won’t save a ton of money.

If you want to be close to Santana Row, the Japanese Friendship Garden, and Half Moon Bay every single day, that’s going to come with a price, and that means $1,400,00 for a home and around $144,000 for your household expenses in a year.

You can move to another city in California, one that’s smaller but just as gorgeous, such as Stockton. You won’t have to worry about breaking an arm and a leg just so you can purchase a home because the price for a house is around $455,000 and your yearly expenses will be no bigger than $78,000. So, would you consider trading San Jose for Stockton?
