Kids should learn how to act when it comes to friendly competition, and this is what board games are great for. Most of the board games that were popular amongst our kids are still a hit with grandkids, and this means you will not have to break the bank getting a lot of the new ones. Start by teaching them classic board games, like checkers and even chess. You can always add Twister if you are still as flexible as you once were.
As they grow older, you can start introducing harder games like Connect 4, Scrabble, Ticket to Ride, Operations, and Monopoly! There are thousands of board games out there.
