Albuquerque, New Mexico

Statistics show that 1,369 violent incidents occur in Albuquerque for every 100,000 people. According to the city’s police department, the crime rate in the city has increased, with 35 murders reported at the beginning of last year.

But while Albuquerque is featured second on our list, it’s one of only two states that has seen an annual drop in its violent crime rate and the most significant improvement, with 6.5% fewer reported crimes.

However, 778 reported violent incidents per 100,000 population still exist despite a substantial reduction in violent crimes. There are also high property theft and vehicle rates in New Mexico and higher package theft rates than in our country as a whole.
