Spartanburg, South Carolina

Even though this state has a high rate of violent crime incidents, at 531 per 100,000 people, it only saw a minor increase of 3.8% in previous years. But unfortunately, this also includes 10.5 murders for every 100,000 people, which is the fifth highest out of any state.

The 549 reported murders are higher than in many of our country’s states that are much more populated. As far as individual cities go, Spartanburg is considered the most hazardous, having witnessed the equivalent of 1,200 violent crimes per 100,000 individuals.

And although Charleston doesn’t make the cut for the most dangerous cities in South Carolina, North Charleston, with 114,852 residents and the third most populous city in South Carolina, has 960 violent crimes for every 100,000 people.
