Projects Are Suddenly Whisked Away
If your boss has the bad habit of discussing a certain plan with you, only to hand it off to someone else at the last second, then you should find a way to speak to them about the changes.
We don’t think outright asking ‘why is someone else in charge?’ will help. Instead, try a more diplomatic approach such as ‘I was looking forward to handing the new project. What happened that changed your mind/the plan?’. In some cases, you may have been singled out, but if you pay attention you might notice that you’re not the only one treated like this.
Oftentimes this may be a case of favoritism or a lack of communication. Perhaps your boss likes your ideas but doesn’t trust you to implement them. By trying to take a more central role in other projects you can prove to them that you’re capable, so try doing that first before taking more drastic measures.
We’d love to hear how you handled difficult incidents with your bosses, too! Tell us your stories in the comments down below.
