5. Server

Being a server is hard, and it’s not going to make you very happy or full of money. This side job is quite complicated, and it implies plenty of physical work because you’ll have to carry big trays of food and beverages, which might put a lot of pressure on your lower back and neck.

Moreover, the wage per hour is at least $2 per hour, plus the tips from the customers, which aren’t very big either, and this is more like a side job suitable for teenagers and people who need to gain some work experience, not retirees who need money but need simpler jobs that are easy on their joints.

I worked as a server once, when I was younger, and I had shifts that lasted even 17 hours. It was so hard, and I was extremely tired, that I almost passed out at one point. So yes, this is definitely not a good side job for retirees!
