Vermont

The safest state in America is Vermont! This doesn’t mean that you should consider this state a utopia when it comes to how safe it is, but the chances of something happening to you in this quaint state are pretty low. With a population of around 650,000 people, the state is ranked 26th when it comes to income, and the average income per household is around $57,000, which is just slightly above Maine.

The crime rates for the Green Mountain State are slower than the average for the country and just a little bit above Maine’s and New Hampshire’s, at 1.6 per 1,000 individuals! This still makes it one of the safest states around, as it is way lower than the national average, and the types of crimes you will hear about here are generally around cat theft or burglary!

Likewise, with the other two New England states, natural disasters are not common here, as are acts of terrorism. What’s more, Vermont has the lowest rate of unemployment, which is probably why its crime rates are so low, and they are also considered to be the healthiest state, along with the safest!

However, if you are a fan of sunny California and you want to make sure that your retirement will be both relaxing and safe, you should check out these towns that Californians swear by!
