Bloomfield Hills is a community of people that value greatly the ethics of quiet, rural residential properties. The suburb is home to the exclusive Bloomfield Hills Country Club, the Bloomfield Open Hunt Club, and the internationally renowned Cranbrook Institute of Science and Art.
This is a community where change doesn’t happen very often unless it’s to improve public services and its residents’ overall lifestyle. In fact, change occurs only with the active, deliberate participation of residents.
This suburb, in close proximity to Metro Detroit, is growing its population of retirees. There are currently over 42% of its 1,551 total households that are collecting Social Security benefits. With a property tax rate of 1.38% and an average home value under $600,000, expenses can be easily managed here in retirement.
In Michigan, the property tax rate is based on the selling price. So if the buyer paid $500,000, his property taxes would be around $7.000.00. Bloomfield Hills is beautiful, and its residents are wealthy. There is no downtown, so the residents go to Birmingham, Troy, or Southfield to shop. For us, if there is no downtown, it should not be called a town.
