Increase in Social Security Disability Thresholds

The SSA provides monthly income to people who are unable to work for a year or more due to a disability. Those benefits are typically paid until the beneficiaries can resume working.

However, there are also cases when some may have a qualifying disability even if they are still working, such as if they can’t do the same work they previously did because of their medical condition.

If this is the case, you are only eligible for Social Security Disability benefits if you earn up to a certain amount of money. When you exceed that limit, you can’t be considered to have a qualifying disability.

Here are the threshold changes for 2023:

  • Non-Blind: $1,470/month (in 2022, it was $1,350/month)
  • Blind: $2,460/month (in 2022, it was $2,260/month)
  • Trial Work Period (TWP): $1,050/month (in 2022, it was $970/month).
