Those beautiful arches aren’t the only thing this amazing state offers. For instance, Salt Lake City ranks 3rd in the country regarding the lowest unemployment rate for a major metro area at 3%. It’s also 5th best in employment increase at 3.4% per the latest data.

Average wages also grew by 5.6% in the past decade, the 7th best for a major city, based on US Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers.

Because the state’s economy is growing so rapidly, it’s become a challenge for companies to fill jobs here, says a senior communications and marketing director for the Downtown Salt Lake City Alliance.

Plenty of opportunities exist here, from bartenders to engineers, from skilled to unskilled labor. Average rents are more affordable here, as well. You can easily find something for about $1,019 a month.
