2. Delaware

Delaware may be a small state, but it has a lot of character. It’s chock full of lovely little towns with lots of activities available to keep you busy in your retirement years. From quiet, suburban Greenville to Atlantic Coast towns like Rehoboth Beach, you’ll find everything you’re searching for in Delaware.

And let’s not forget about the state’s close proximity to large metropolises such as Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Baltimore, to name a few.

While Delaware has a cost of living that’s rather on the higher side, there’s no local or state sales tax, and the income tax is relatively low. Residents also enjoy a lower risk of social isolation and solid access to healthcare.

If you love winter, Delaware will provide you with plenty of opportunity during its long, snowy winters. If the cold isn’t your thing, the autumn and spring months are wonderful, and the summers are mild.

Greenville, Long Neck, and Rehoboth Beach are the top three best places in Delaware to spend your retirement years, so check those out first.

In Pennsylvania one always looks to the East but forgets the lovely town of Erie! Maybe I should just keep quiet as it the best little secret around…

I hope nobody comes to Oregon based on the information in this article. Contrary to what is stated, Oregon’s legislators seem to spend a lot of time thinking up new things to tax. There’s even an “art tax” on income in the Portland metro area, to support Portland “art”.
