Florida

For school supplies, Florida has yet another relatively short holiday, though not the shortest as you’ll see in a moment. Between August 7th and August 9th, you can shop for clothing and accessories under $60 and supplies if they cost $15 or less per item.

If you need a computer or computer accessories then the first $1,000 for these purchases will not be eligible for a discretionary sales tax. Naturally, you can’t buy a computer for commercial purposes.

Some books may be exempt, but not all. Rentals, leases, repairs, or alterations of eligible items are not included. Check out the Florida Department of Revenue for all the details.

Additionally, a Disaster Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday also takes place in Florida, though as of yet the dates have not been announced for 2021. For $10 or less you can get reusable ice, for $20 or less you can get portable lighting sources. You should also get radios, bungee cords, or waterproof sheeting for under $50. Portable generators are also eligible if they’re under $750.
