Your Boss Expects You to Be Just Like Them

Your boss might be confusing mentorship with identity theft in this case. Good leaders value all the people on their team, including their differences. Wanting (or feeling the need to) turn everyone into carbon copied version of themselves is not normal behavior in the workplace.
If you want to show them that you value their suggestions pick one or two of them and try to incorporate them in your work life every now and then. This should get them off your back, but don’t turn yourself into them just because they keep insisting on it.
It’s important to have a diverse workplace and bosses who don’t understand that will end up ruining their team’s confidence. As poet William Cowper once wrote “Variety is the very spice of life, That gives it all its flavor.”
